Day-by-Day Itinerary
1Nairobi to Samburu
Head north past Mount Kenya's foothills, crossing the equator at Nanyuki with a stop for the ceremony. Arrive in Samburu for an afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Ng'iro River.
2Full Day in Samburu
Morning and afternoon drives searching out the Special Five: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and gerenuk — plus superb leopard chances in the riverine forest.
3Samburu to Lake Nakuru
Travel south through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Afternoon game drive along the lakeshore — rhinos, flamingos, and Rothschild's giraffe among acacia woodland.
4Nakuru to the Maasai Mara
Morning drive via Baboon Cliff viewpoint, then continue cross-country to the Maasai Mara, arriving for an evening game drive as the light turns gold.
5Full Day in the Mara
Dawn-to-dusk game viewing with picnic lunch at the Mara River. Your guide works the territories of the reserve's famous lion prides.
6Mara — Balloon Option & Big Cats
Optional sunrise balloon safari with champagne breakfast, or an early drive to catch predators returning from the night's hunt. Afternoon Maasai village visit available.
7Final Full Day in the Mara
A flexible day to chase whatever the Mara hasn't yet shown you — a leopard in a fig tree, cheetahs on a termite mound, or a river crossing in season.
8Return to Nairobi
Early breakfast and departure, arriving in Nairobi by mid-afternoon with hotel or airport drop-off.
